Title: Harbor Freight Belt and Disk Sander
Post by: Tom on March 18, 2010 2:08 PM: I'm going to be in Fargo in little over a week so I will be going shoping. Has any body used the HF 4" X 36" Belt/ 6" Disc Sander?? Is it like most of their elect motor crap.........no balls??

Last week I bought a grinder stand at Sears for the grinder I bought at Sears a year ago and ended up grinding on the darn stand for a half hour just to mount the damn thing. I'm really disgusted with everything I have bought in the last five years or so...there I feel better now...

Post by: Eyeball on March 18, 2010 6:29 PM: I have the 6x48 and 9" disk one and it has worked well for me so far. It does need more power when you try to lay a manifold on the big belt you can stop the motor but it has worked great for brackets and stuff.

Post by: eugenevik on March 19, 2010 1:27 AM: I got a 6 in and it had a ton of power, and it grinds, but it is fairly dangerous when a belt explodes

got 2 of the HF type 4 in belt and they are underpowered crap but you wont hurt your self with them

and they all have their use just to pick the right one
sometimes for a little smoothing job the little ones are just the ticket and belts are cheep
other times you need to straighten something out and remove metal the big one is just the ticket, but dont get any body parts in exploding belts

Post by: Tom on October 26, 2010 3:37 PM: Thanks to Todd I got the 4" X 36" sander last spring when he was comming to Bismarck. I have wore out the belt that came with it and for what I have use it for it's worked ok. Picked up some belts for it at BTT50's which I will have to see how easy they are to install.

Took a little skin off a knuckle once, :shock: but that’s it so far.

I guess I should have said I got the Harbor Freight sander. They showed 2 models but only had one in stock. Lucked out, it was the one I wanted. Had a coupon a friend gave me out of some wood workin’ mag for.$49.99 which was about twenty bucks less than any sale price I had seen.
