Ford Model A Roadster

(1/28) > >>

31Rodder:
This is a model A roadster build.
This is originally a 29 roadster, but I am using 28 doors since I dont need outside door handles on a roadster.  The roadster will be riding on 32 rails with a 39 X member. The roadster will be running a flathead with an overdrive transmission.  Up front is an undropped 32 axle with a 33 unsplit wishbone with 40 ford spindles and brakes.  I am using a stock model a front crossmember and an A reversed I spring with stock a spring perches.  In the rear it will have a T crossmember and spring and an open drive banjo with 36 bones.
The roadster will have a hallock windshield.  I will not be using the stock gas tank and a 39 merc dash will be put in its place.  The rear deck lid will be louvered.

Eyeball:
Wow looks like you have alot of work ahead of you............since you are just starting on it. :)

hell_bent:
wow, looks like fun

31Rodder:
Here is a pic of the frame so far.  the center X is tacked in place, until I can determine if the clutch and brake pedals are in an adequate spot.
As you can see the front and rear bones are not tied into a crossmember yet I was going to tie them into the X, but have decided to make to go a different route.

31Rodder:
I decided to reskin the passenger door, skins are available cheap.  I had to rebuild the inner structure of the door.  The driver side was shot so I ended up getting a new used one.  here is what I did. I seperated the inner structure from the outer skin and gave the inner structure a vinegar bath for 3 days and that cleaned it up good.  Then I made a pattern of the lower part of the inner structure and rolled a bead in it and bent it into shape. I welded it up.  The welds are ugly, but will be covered by interior anyway.  I then attached the innerstructure to the new skin and I think it turned out pretty good for my first attempt at this.  sure beats paying 500 bucks for a new door.
